Premier League journalist shares what Everton ‘almost never’ do under Sean Dyche after 3-0 win v Bournemouth
Everton pressing high under manager Sean Dyche is very rare, according to Premier League journalist Alex Keble.
Such pressing was evident in the club’s 3-0 Premier League win against Bournemouth on Saturday (7 October), due to the lack of confidence among the Cherries defenders, Keble noted.
James Garner, Jack Harrison and Abdoulaye Doucoure got the goals at Goodison Park, in what was Everton’s second league win this season.

“Bournemouth continue to struggle to pass the ball safely out from the back, and opponents are finding it too easy to press them and win possession in dangerous areas – as Everton showed on Saturday,” Keble wrote for the official Premier League website.
“The match hinged on that opening goal, scored by Garner after a slip from Illia Zabarnyi. This was not an isolated incident, and in fact it reflects a growing tendency for opposition managers to put the Bournemouth defenders under pressure, expecting a mistake.
“The ultimate proof of that is an Everton side low on confidence and managed by Sean Dyche pressing high – something we almost never see.”

Huge win
The victory at Goodison Park was massive for Dyche and his players for several reasons, with the main reason being that the three points won lifts the Toffees that bit further away from the relegation zone.
The Merseyside outfit currently sit 16th in the Premier League table, three points away from the bottom three and six points away from rock bottom.
It will also do wonders for the confidence of Dyche and all those in the squad, while fan confidence should rise after the Toffees won at home in the league for the first time this season.
It was definitely important to go into the upcoming international break in good spirits, particularly given how the first game back is a massive Merseyside Derby against Liverpool.
The Reds host that huge clash at Anfield later this month, with Toffees fans keen for their club to cause an upset on their short trip across the city.
In other Everton news, the Toffees takeover could be over before it begins as an “explosive” 777 Partners update emerges.
