Injury Expert details worst-case scenario for Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Everton...

Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye could be out for a few weeks in case of the worst-case scenario with his tendon, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The Toffees player pulled out of the eleven against Bournemouth as he picked up an injury and was then replaced by Amadou Onana.

The hosts secured a comfortable 3-0 victory in what was arguably their best performance of the season against the relegation candidates.

Discussing his situation exclusively with Goodison News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:

He had soreness in the heel leading up to the match and that soreness continued into the warm-ups.

That could mean a number of things, ranging from plantar fasciitis to Achilles soreness.

The worst case here would be something like Achilles tendinopathy which can have a high variance for return, depending on the specifics, but could be weeks.

The 34-year-old has been a regular under Sean Dyche this season and has played in seven league games.

He has proven to be a rock in midfield and despite a few erratic performances, has continued to retain his spot in the side.

It remains to be seen if he will get back into the side against Liverpool if he’s fit as Dyche may not want to tinker with a winning formula.

In other Everton news, a condition has now emerged on Sean Dyche being sacked amid trouble behind the scenes at Goodison Park.
