Journalist makes ‘very concerned’ Everton takeover admission amid 777 Partners development
The Everton Fan Advisory Board was right to send a list of tough questions to 777 Partners because of the company’s track record, according to Paul Brown.
Speaking to GiveMeSport on Wednesday (11 October), the former Daily Star journalist said there are a lot of “serious questions” about the suitability of the US investment firm to own a Premier League club and deliver success.
He added that he would be “very concerned” if the takeover of the Toffees was to go through, but admitted that there is a “long way to go” before the deal reaches that point despite Farhad Moshiri agreeing terms with the group.

“I think it’s right that the Everton Fan Advisory Board has sent a lot of very tough, searching questions to this company because their track record and the growing list of lawsuits against them in the United States poses a lot of serious questions about their suitability to own a Premier League football club and their ability to operate one with any kind of success,” said Brown.
“I would be very concerned if this takeover was to go through, and I think there is still a long way to go before it does.”
Doesn’t add up
There are an awful lot of things that don’t really add up about 777 Partners, so the fan advisory board have taken the right step in trying to get some more answers.
While matters on and off the pitch have been pretty miserable in recent times, there is nothing to suggest that they would improve under the American company.
There have been several issues raised regarding funding and payments being missed at other clubs owned by the firm, sending alarm bells ringing on Merseyside.

It’s understandable that the Toffees fans want to see the back of Moshiri after things have soured over the past couple of years, but this could prove to be a real misstep if the group doesn’t deliver a more positive future.
It really is concerning times for the Blues and its fans, who are hopeful that brighter days are around the corner despite the growing uncertainty at Goodison Park.
In other Everton news, the club could be set to make a move for a forward after a journalist has mooted a January transfer.
