Scouts left stunned by what Everton have now started at Finch Farm
One scout was left openmouthed when he was asked to pay £1 for a cup of coffee at an Everton Under 18s match at Finch Farm, according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper shared via their website on 16 October that eyebrows were raised at Everton’s training ground, where drinks are usually free as is standard across the Premier League and EFL.
The scout told the Daily Mail: “I know times are hard but we weren’t expecting this” after he shared being offered a card reader after telling the member of staff he didn’t have any cash on him.

Every little helps
In what must be said is one of the stranger stories coming out of the Premier League of late, Everton appear to be doing all they can to raise cash with their ongoing financial struggles well-documented amid talks of a full-scale takeover of the club.
While £1 for a cup of tea or coffee is hardly going to see them make a bid for Kylian Mbappe in the January transfer market, the decision to charge for what would usually be a complimentary service for a Premier League club does appear to be financially motivated.
The complete reason behind Everton deciding to charge for drinks at their training ground is, of course, unknown, and there shouldn’t exactly be a club statement expected for an explanation, but the reactions of the scouts make for an interesting story.

Maybe Everton are ahead of the game, and the additional income from scouts paying for a cup of tea will allow them to shoot up the Premier League table in a dreamland. They can live in hope.
