Everton sources deny claims 777 Partners’ takeover is stalling

Sources close to Farhad Moshiri have claimed the club are satisfied that the deal for 777 Partners to take over the club remains on track after Everton categorically denied claims the takeover is stalling, as shared by The Mirror.

The newspaper shared via its website on 18 October that there are no deadlines on the timeframe of the deal for 777 to purchase the club in an “unusual” step that has been confirmed.

This comes following a report in the New York Times which claimed that the group missed a deadline to provide audited financial statements to a British government regulator.

Claims and counter-claims

In the seemingly never-ending spiral of claims about 777 Partners, their eligibility to take over a Premier League football club, and the ongoing ownership checks surrounding their financial stability and backing, each day seems to bring a new issue.

The group, as well as the club, have maintained throughout the process that they are confident the takeover will go through, but persistent claims of issues during the process are planting doubt into the minds of Everton supporters.

How it is possible for a report to claim a deadline has been missed in the ongoing process, but then the club can come out and claim there was never a deadline anyway, is the sort of messy situation that proves the level of uncertainty surrounding the takeover.

Ultimately, we will know whether or not the takeover will go through when the regulatory panels arrive at a decision. This is not expected until December, so between now and then all the fans can do is wait and hope that everything goes smoothly.
