BBC Sport statistician slams Everton in ‘bittersweet’ verdict, club will be ‘kicking themselves’
Everton will be “kicking themselves” at their failure to pick up more points this season, according to BBC Sport statistician Chris Collinson.
The Merseyside outfit have seven points from their eight matches so far, with two wins, one draw and five losses to their name.
That leaves them sitting 16th in the Premier League table, three points away from the relegation zone and six points off rock bottom.

“Chelsea have been playing well this season despite not having the results to show for it, but they’ve also had the easiest run of fixtures, so it’s hard to truly pin down how good they are this early on,” Collinson wrote for BBC Sport.
“Everton are in a similarly bittersweet situation as while they can take heart from how they dominated a run of winnable home games, they’ll be kicking themselves that they didn’t manage to get more points on the board.”

Poor start
Everton were involved in back-to-back Premier League relegation battles coming into the new season, with fans desperate to avoid a similar fate this time around.
But their hopes have not come true, with the Toffees undoubtedly in the mix for clubs that will potentially be relegated this season.
Newly-promoted sides Luton Town, Sheffield United and Burnley are, however, really struggling, as are Bournemouth, with their issues set to give Toffees fans some confidence at this stage of the season.
The Merseyside outfit will be trying to put things right as soon as possible, but consistency has been lacking at the Goodison Park club.
Moreover, things aren’t going to get any easier for Sean Dyche and his struggling players, with trips to high-flying Liverpool and West Ham up next, with those games followed by a home test with Brighton.
Getting more points on the board is already the priority for Dyche, with the manager having to put good performances to the back of his mind.
In other Everton news, the Toffees are eyeing a breakthrough with a brand new £35million transfer.
