Sky Sports shares Liverpool team news ahead of Everton clash after Andy Robertson injury setback
Liverpool full-back Kostas Tsimikas is expected to start for Liverpool against Everton at Anfield on Saturday in place of the injured Andy Robertson, according to Sky Sports News.
In a team news update shared by the broadcaster on Thursday (19 October), the Greek international should replace Robertson who suffered a significant shoulder injury during the international break for Scotland.
The Toffees make the short trip across Stanley Park to their Merseyside neighbours seeking just a second win at Anfield since 1999, and just a second win overall in this fixture in 29 attempts.
Sky Sports also shared what Jurgen Klopp’s plans may be for key players such as Alexis Mac Allister, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and goalkeeper Alisson who travelled long distances this week after international duty.
Reasons to be optimistic
Everton supporters have become accustomed to coming away from this fixture disappointed in recent Premier League seasons, especially at Anfield.
The Toffees’ only victory on enemy soil since the turn of the millennium came in February 2021 which came during the lockdown season with no fans present, under the tutelage of Carlo Ancelotti.

The Italian is known for his big-game experience and that win may not have been a surprise to those around Everton after Liverpool’s shoddy form then, but the question can Dyche conjure up something similar?
Liverpool are unbeaten at home in 15 Premier League games in a run stretching back almost exactly a year, when Leeds United came away with a 2-1 victory and records are there to be broken.
A win on Saturday may just be the biggest surprise in a Merseyside derby yet and despite their poor record across Stanley Park, Everton have reasons to be optimistic and should not approach this game with any sort of fear after a recent upturn in form.
The Toffees will be boosted by the injury to Robertson who has regularly proven a thorn in the Blues’ side in recent seasons but that does not mean they should become complacent as much as Tsimikas is concerned.
In other Everton news, Simon Jordan admits he was “absolutely wrong” in a debate regarding the Toffees’ upcoming FFP case.
