Jonathan Walters rages at Premier League demand for Everton points deduction in FFP case, cites Manchester City charges

Jonathan Walters was furious at reports that the Premier League are demanding Everton are handed a 12-point deduction for breaching FFP regulations.

The Telegraph report (25 October) that the Premier League want the Toffees to be handed the maximum punishment for breaches, while Everton maintain that they haven’t broken any rules.

But Walters, a self-professed Everton fan and former Premier League striker, admitted he wouldn’t be surprised to see the punishment handed out but pointed out the hypocrisy involved considering the current charges against Manchester City and what happened with the clubs involved in the Super League two years ago.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if they do this,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account.

“Oh and a group of clubs secretly met to have a breakaway competition which would decimate the PL add that to Man City charged with 100 breaches of financial rules.. Zero consequences.”

Crazy

The Premier League can’t make their bias and corruption any more obvious with things like this.

The PL and Everton have been transparent with the fact they have been working alongside each other to ensure that the club didn’t breach any rules, so if we did in fact do that then some blame surely has to fall on them too.

But to add to that, Everton’s charges are minor in comparison to current golden geese Man City who have 114 charges against them for breaking financial rules and yet we’re supposed to forget all about that.

Those charges have been ongoing for several years too and yet they’re allowed to continue operating as normal with the charges just looming over them, while the Premier League aggressively attack Everton while we’re already in a very vulnerable position.

The hypocrisy in the case is outrageous and at this point Everton will seemingly have to hope for a suspended punishment at best otherwise survival could be a real problem this season.
