Journalist moots Everton exit for Amadou Onana amid Goodison financial woes
Everton may be forced to sell Amadou Onana if they can generate enough profit from a transfer, according to Paul Brown.
Speaking to GiveMeSport on Wednesday (25 October), the former Daily Star journalist said he believes the Belgian international is one of three or four Toffees players that could be targeted by other clubs.
He added that the Blues are “vulnerable to a sale” and that they might have to sanction a deal for the 22-year-old midfielder after the troubling financial situation at Goodison Park has been well documented.

“Hopefully, his development continues at the club and they don’t need to sell him,” said Brown. “But I do think he’s one of three or four players who could be targeted, I think, by other clubs, and I do think Everton are vulnerable to a sale.
“They would probably look at that and think if they can generate enough profit from the sale of someone like Onana, they might have to do it.”
Can’t happen
There is no way that Everton can afford to let Onana go after he has emerged as one of the club’s most important players since signing from Lille last summer.
The midfielder is one of the first names on the team sheet under Sean Dyche and it would be a massive blow if he was to lose him midway through the season.
It would surely have to take a large bid that would secure a healthy profit for the Toffees to even consider selling him after they paid £33million to sign him.

But if the Blues’ financial situation continues to get worse, then they may be forced into making some tough decisions around the current group of players.
It feels imperative that they manage to keep hold of some of their stars, though, as fighting off relegation could be a difficult task depending on the outcome of the independent hearing following the club’s alleged spending breach.
