Stan Collymore predicts result of Everton Premier League clash v West Ham United live on talkSPORT

Stan Collymore has predicted Everton will fall to a 2-1 defeat against West Ham in Sunday’s (29 October) Premier League contest at London Stadium.

The Toffees were beaten 2-0 by Liverpool in a contentious Merseyside derby last weekend and find themselves just three points above the relegation zone.

Collymore says an Everton win in East London cannot be entirely ruled out, but he does not expect Sean Dyche’s men to add to their tally of two wins from nine top-flight outings.

Everton

Asked if Everton are capable of winning the game, Collymore told talkSPORT [27 October, 14:43]: “Yeah, quite simply because they lost the derby last time out, which isn’t unusual – that’s one win in their last 30 Merseyside derbies – but before that they were starting to get results in the cup competitions and league.

“In terms of West Ham, they got really done against Villa. Obviously the Olympiacos game yesterday they made changes with the hope of bringing fresh players back who didn’t play and that can do the job.

“I think West Ham are going through an iffy patch of form and they’ll prioritise this game. I think it’ll be quite close, but I’m going West Ham to win it 2-1.”

Good record

In a week that has been dominated by talk of a possible 12-point deduction and the tragic death of chairman Bill Kenwright, it is nice to actually talk about matters on the field.

The 2-0 loss to Liverpool provided plenty of talking points, but it is now in the past. Prior to that defeat at Anfield, Everton thrashed Bournemouth 3-0 in arguably their most rounded performance of Dyche’s tenure.

Two wins from four games is not bad going – albeit the other loss in that run came at home to Luton Town – but the Toffees need to now find some momentum.

Everton have won 12 Premier League away matches versus the Hammers, which is their best return against any club in the division, so let’s keep a positive mindset.

This is the start of a key run of fixtures, which includes games against Brighton and Hove Albion and Crystal Palace over the next two weeks.

Let’s hope it starts with an away win in the capital this weekend.

In other Everton news, journalist Miguel Delaney has responded to talk of a “catastrophic” development at Goodison Park.
