Everton verdict relatively imminent, commision has unlimited powers and can expel clubs from Premier League

Everton could soon find out their fate amid allegations of breaking Financial Fair Play rules, according to The Telegraph.

The newspaper reported on Sunday (29 October) that an independent commission is currently hearing Everton’s case for breaching profit and sustainability rules.

Everton deny any wrongdoing surrounding the matter but the Premier League have reportedly recommended that the Blues are deducted 12 points.

The Telegraph adds that the commission’s power is “unlimited” and they could actually expel clubs from the Premier League completely.

Worrying

The commission are not going to go as far as kicking Everton out of the Premier League but that just shows what sort of power they have when it comes to matters such as this.

The club maintains they have done nothing wrong and we hope that this ends up being the case.

However, if it’s not, we’re in deep trouble because they could do what the Premier League want and hit us with a 12-point deduction, which would leave Sean Dyche’s side rock bottom of the table and survival hopes in tatters before November.

Everton

It would be interesting to know how far a club must go to be expelled from the Premier League but Everton’s alleged offences aren’t likely to be anywhere near it considering what Manchester City are accused of doing.

If the Blues are found to have breached FFP rules then they will no doubt be setting a precedent and that could open up a can of worms for the Premier League and potentially other leagues in the country.

What will relegated clubs of the last few years do? What will other clubs do about Man City? And what on earth will happen if they are found guilty of all the allegations against them?

It’s a worrying time for Evertonians, indeed.
