Alan Shearer gushes over ‘magnificent’ Jarrad Branthwaite v West Ham United, ‘nothing got past’ Everton ace
Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite was “magnificent” as his club defeated West Ham, according to Alan Shearer.
The central defender played the entire 90 minutes as the Toffees defeated the Hammers 1-0 on Sunday (29 October).
Everton attacker Dominic Calvert-Lewin netted the only goal of the Premier League encounter at the London Stadium.

Speaking to the official Premier League website, Shearer said of Branthwaite: “Magnificent at the back. Nothing got past him against West Ham.”

Rock solid
It was a very impressive display from young defender Branthwaite against the Hammers, who simply couldn’t break down the centre-back and his partner James Tarkowski.
The duo are forming quite the partnership at the heart of the Toffees defence, with the pair hoping the away clean sheet can kickstart a run of shutouts.
Clean sheets have been very hard to come by for the Merseyside outfit in recent seasons, and they will be crucial to helping the club climb the table further in the coming months.
Youngster Branthwaite has developed extremely well this season, with his loan spell at Eredivisie club PSV last season undoubtedly improving him massively.
Now the 21-year-old will be keen to retain his starting position under Dyche, which shouldn’t be an issue given his recent displays.
Keeping West Ham star Jarrod Bowen quiet is not something that many Premier League defenders have managed this season, but Branthwaite can now tick that off his list.
In other Everton news, Micah Richards was stunned by one Toffees player on Sky Sports at full-time against West Ham.
