Alan Shearer wowed by Everton ‘powerhouse’ Amadou Onana who ‘led by example’ v West Ham United
Everton ace Amadou Onana “led by example” in his club’s win against West Ham, according to pundit Alan Shearer.
The midfielder played the entire 90 minutes as the Toffees secured a 1-0 victory at the London Stadium on Sunday (29 October).
Striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored the only goal of the Premier League clash in the 51st minute, with Jack Harrison getting the assist.

Speaking to the official Premier League website, Shearer said of Onana: “A real powerhouse performance. He led by example at the heart of Everton’s midfield.”

There really weren’t any bad performances among the Everton team, who were made to work very hard for their huge victory in East London. Calvert-Lewin will get plenty of the plaudits for his very well-taken goal, but it was a collective effort from the visitors.
They headed to the London Stadium low on confidence given their miserable season so far, with the Hammers keen to bounce back from their Europa League defeat to Olympiacos.
West Ham had been in Greece for that Europa League group stage clash on Thursday (26 October), and so fatigue may have played a part against the Toffees.
Everton manager Dyche won’t care one bit, however, with his club moving up to 15th place in the Premier League table with the win.
But there is no time to sit back and enjoy the three points, with Dyche welcoming his former club Burnley to Goodison Park for a League Cup round of 16 encounter on Wednesday (1 November).
In other Everton news, Micah Richards was stunned by one Toffees player on Sky Sports at full-time against West Ham.
