Dermot Gallagher reacts live on Sky Sports to Everton incident in victory v West Ham United
Dermot Gallagher believes the right decision was made to not award a foul by Jarrad Branthwaite in the build-up to the Everton goal against West Ham on Sunday (29 October).
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Ref Watch on Monday (30 October, 11:51am), the former Premier League referee said it was “not a foul” by the 21-year-old centre-back as he beat Michail Antonio to the ball.
He added that the England U-21 international was “always looking at the ball” before Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored the winning goal with what Gallagher described as a “cracking finish” to earn a 1-0 victory at the London Stadium.

“Not a foul,” said Gallagher. “He won the ball and a cracking finish. But there he’s gone for the ball, always looking at the ball.”
Dominant
It was yet another excellent performance from Branthwaite as he helped his side earn an invaluable three points against West Ham.
The centre-back was integral in the build-up to the goal when he got his body in front of Antonio and showed strength to win the ball for the Toffees.
It was definitely not a foul as he was just stronger in the situation against a forward that usually outmuscles most defenders he comes up against.

The English defender was dominant throughout the afternoon and once again looked extremely comfortable in the Blues’ backline at the London Stadium.
Sean Dyche will no doubt be looking forward to seeing him continue with his development this season as he looks to be going from strength to strength after breaking into the side during this campaign.
