Sean Dyche reveals plans for Jarrad Branthwaite at Everton
Sean Dyche has shared he has been working on the smaller details of Jarrad Branthwaite’s game in training, with a view to fast-tracking his learning to improve as a defender at Everton.
Branthwaite has been one of the standout stars of Dyche’s team so far this season, earning plenty of plaudits for his displays and being linked with moves to the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City.
The boss has detailed the training plans for him and revealed he is working hard to keep improving and learning bit by bit, without being rushed or overworked by the coaching staff.

Dyche was speaking to Sky Sports on 30 October when he shared: “I think so far he’s come through, he missed a bit of pre-season which was unfortunate, he’s come through, he’s got his chance, he’s working hard at his game.
“I think he’s listening. We’re still keeping the coaching level quite low, just letting him learn as he’s going, with little pointers and different things, positional things and tactical understanding.
“You want to fast-track that learning, that’s the idea. He’s taken it on, he’s been very open-minded to what it is and he’s enjoying his football.”
When asked about whether he was tracking the defender during his loan spell at PSV, Dyche shared: “Yeah, we had good reports. I spoke to him on the phone, nothing heavy, just to let him know that I was here and get a little feel for him.
“[There were] good reports on him from his loan. Like I said, he was very unfortunate in pre-season, I think it was two and a half weeks and that would have maybe given him a chance to start the season, but once he got fit we gave him a chance and he’s done nicely.”

Managing him perfectly
Allowing Branthwaite to grow and learn through experience on this pitch has proved so far to be the best option for his development and Dyche so far has managed the early stages of his Goodison Park career perfectly.
He has gone from strength to strength on the pitch and forged a formidable partnership with James Tarkowski, who has proved to be the perfect defensive partner with his experience, know-how and ability for Branthwaite to learn from and develop his style of play.
The 21-year-old has caught the eye of many this season with his performances, and back-to-back impressive displays away from home against Liverpool and West Ham have done no harm at all to his reputation in England.
At his young age, the defender has plenty of room to grow, and Dyche allowing him to learn and develop his own game without too much of an input overload from the coaching staff will prove to be a huge benefit to the path of his career at Everton.
