Athletic journalist moots ‘good news’ for Everton as ‘never be easier’ Premier League relegation verdict shared
It will “never be easier” than this season for Everton to stay in the Premier League, according to The Athletic’s Adam Crafton.
And that is “good news” for the Merseyside club, who currently occupy 15th place in the table after their 10 matches so far.
The Toffees have 10 points to their name, with Nottingham Forest (10), Bournemouth (6), Luton Town (5), Burnley (4) and Sheffield United (1) below them.

“The good news for them is that it will never be easier to stay in the Premier League than this year,” Crafton said on The Monday Night Club on BBC 5 Live Sport (30 October). “Because the standard unfortunately of the bottom three or four I think is going to be historically low.”

Poor standards?
Everton haven’t been great under Dyche this season, but as far as they are concerned, they haven’t been as bad as the clubs that were recently promoted.
Sheffield United are yet to win from their 10 matches so far, with their only point coming in a 2-2 home draw with Everton in September.
Burnley, Luton and Bournemouth have not done much better, with those three clubs each winning just once this season.
The more points that the Toffees can grind out at this stage of the season the better, with the pressure then set to build and build on the clubs below them.
That should in equal measure take some of the pressure off Dyche and his players, who will not want to consider the idea of another relegation scrap.
It won’t be an easy task, however, with high-flying Brighton up next for the Merseyside outfit in the Premier League.
In other Everton news, pundit Micah Richards was stunned by one Toffees player on Sky Sports at full-time of the 1-0 victory against West Ham.
