Dominic Calvert-Lewin makes bold trophy claim ahead of Everton v Burnley
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has admitted that winning a trophy is the target for the club, as Everton prepare to face Burnley in the Carabao Cup on 1 November.
The striker claimed that since he joined the club the aim has been to bring a trophy back to Goodison Park and that the whole squad are aware of what they will aim to achieve this season.
Not only did Calvert-Lewin show confidence in the side, a symptom of the good run Everton have been on, but he is also backing himself to score again after his strong run of form.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo on 31 October, Calvert-Lewin was asked about whether a trophy was in their thinking, and he shared: “Of course, and it has been since I joined the club.
“We’re all aware of what we want to achieve. Wednesday is an opportunity to continue on that journey. I enjoy playing in the Carabao. I’ve got a good record there, so no doubt I’ll hit the onion.”
The striker then spoke glowingly of his boss, who has helped his recovery from fitness: “I’ve got to give him credit for being patient and taking pressure off my shoulders,” Calvert-Lewin shared, “Because previously it killed me.
“The rush to get me back to get back fit and coming back too soon and breaking down, that cycle had to stop. The manager came in and said, ‘This will stop’ and he has allowed me to take time to get in this position. I guess we’re all reaping the rewards now.”
Confidence is flowing
These quotes from the Everton striker show the confidence the club are holding as a product of their run of good form, in which time Sean Dyche’s side have picked up four wins in their last six games.

The Carabao Cup has been a particularly happy hunting ground for the Toffees already this season, with a win last time out against Aston Villa shocking the hosts whose record at Villa Park has been nearly immaculate this season, while Everton at the time were struggling.
After the victory against West Ham at the London Stadium, in which Calvert-Lewin scored again, the squad will be on a massive high going into the game, and the aim of keeping their cup run going will provide further inspiration.
With Burnley struggling for form and Everton hitting a good run, they will be looking to extend their good form and strengthen their chances of going all the way in this competition with a strong performance and result.
In other Everton news, a “very alarming” update has emerged on the takeover.
