Jamie Carragher predicts result of Everton Carabao Cup clash v Burnley
Jamie Carragher has predicted that Everton will advance to the fifth round of the Carabao Cup when they face Burnley on Wednesday 1 November.
The Sky Sports pundit believes that Sean Dyche’s side will build upon their impressive 1-0 win over West Ham on Sunday (29 October) in the Premier League, suggesting that the Toffees will beat Vincent Kompany’s side 2-0 at Goodison Park.
It has been a long time since Everton last lifted silverware and Carragher believes that the Toffees have an excellent chance of breaking that “hoodoo” should they get past Burnley, who have lost all of their last three matches, including most recently a 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth.

Writing in his EFL predictions he said: “I think Everton’s physicality and power will be too much for Burnley. Everton have to go for it because it gives them a great opportunity to break that hoodoo of how long they’ve gone without winning a trophy.
“It’s a decent home draw and there’s other teams in there who they might think, if they get them in the draw in the next round, it gives them a great opportunity to get to the Semi-Finals.”
Excellent chance
Winning games is an excellent habit for teams to get into and that is true no matter the competition in which a side manages to pick up results, so far this season the Carabao Cup has allowed Dyche to kickstart his league season and build some momentum.
The win over Doncaster Rovers in the second round gave the Toffees their first win of the campaign, while the result at Villa Park ensured that Everton gained some momentum following their first Premier League success of the campaign against Brentford.

Everton and Dyche’s focus will be on the Premier League this season as staying in the top flight is the ultimate goal for the Toffees, but there is no reason why they can’t target the Carabao Cup as well, especially considering the sides already knocked out of the competition.
Dyche can make some changes to his side but he doesn’t have the depth to make mass changes. Even with a few alterations, the Blues should have more than enough to beat Kompany’s side and that will leave them only two rounds away from the final at Wembley. Everton could do something special.
In other Everton news, Michael Ball has said that a potential 12-point deduction could be catastrophic for the Toffees
