Chelsea could test Everton resolve with Jordan Pickford pursuit as transfer development emerges

Jordan Pickford has been a standout at Everton over recent years, with the club undoubtedly better off thanks to his displays between the sticks.

Moreover, the number one has stuck by the club, with the Toffees coming dangerously close to dropping down to the Championship in the last two seasons.

He could, however, finally give up on Merseyside if the struggles of Sean Dyche’s side continue this time around. And one club that may just take advantage of the situation is billionaire-backed Chelsea, who were recently tracking the Everton goalkeeper, according to 90min (18 September).

Nobody has managed to persuade Pickford to leave Goodison Park thus far, but the Blues might fancy their chances as they search for a new shot-stopper next summer.

According to TEAMtalk (1 November), Chelsea want to bring in a new goalkeeper in 2024, with the Stamford Bridge club happy to remain with Robert Sanchez until the summer.

Billionaire owner Todd Boehly will undoubtedly draw up a list of potential candidates, with Everton supporters hoping that their hero Pickford is not on it.

Everton

The 29-year-old has been a star for club and country in recent times, often single-handedly winning matches for both Everton and England with his saves.

The Toffees have, however, been in poor form for some time now, and it remains to be seen just how much longer their number one will hang around.

Chelsea undoubtedly represent a very attractive opportunity for many players, as was the case for current incumbent Sanchez, who joined the club from Brighton in the summer.

In other Everton news, Chris Sutton has shared a “realistic” Toffees expectation as a Premier League relegation claim is made by the pundit live on BBC.
