Fabrizio Romano shares update on Everton pursuit of Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville

Fabrizio Romano has shared a fresh update on the future of Leeds star Crysencio Summerville amid interest from Everton and other Premier League clubs.

Writing in his Daily Briefing (2 November) the reliable journalist reports that the Dutch youth international rejected interest from Premier League clubs in the summer to stay at Elland Road.

But “many clubs” are still interested in the 21-year-old winger and things could change in the “next few weeks” ahead of the January window, with Everton named as an interested party.

Everton

“Crysencio Summerville – I mentioned Everton, Bournemouth and Burnley as clubs interested in Crysencio Summerville last summer but he decided to stay at Leeds,” he said.

“In January it could change – I’m not aware of anything advanced yet but this could change in the next few weeks as many clubs are following him, though I can’t comment on any concrete names for the moment.”

Talent

Summerville is clearly a very talented winger, and he has shown that he is too good for the Championship this season with six goals and four assists in nine appearances.

He’s recently been tipped to earn a call-up to the senior Netherlands squad after his “special” performances, and a move away from Elland Road looks like it’s going to be a big topic in January.

Everton

But whether Everton are the right club for him or if we will even have the funds to get a deal done remain to be seen considering all the things happening off the pitch right now.

Leeds are likely to set his price quite high considering his contract situation and form, and after the troubles we had negotiating with them for Wilfried Gnonto in the summer it wouldn’t be an easy deal to do.

Our attack has got plenty of depth and quality too so it’s probably not a priority position for the winter window with the minimal funds we will have, so this seems more like a pipe dream at Goodison Park than anything realistic.
