Pundit slams ‘absolutely terrible’ Everton live on BBC after ‘unthinkable’ incident v Brighton
BBC pundit Pat Nevin slammed Everton for their defending in the first half of their clash with Brighton on Saturday (4 November).
Brighton defender Lewis Dunk thought he had scored an equaliser in the 14th minute, but his goal was disallowed by VAR.
Toffees left-back Vitaliy Mykolenko had put the hosts ahead in the seventh minute of the Premier League encounter at Goodison Park.

“It is a fine finish from Dunk, on his left foot coming in from the right hand side,” Nevin said on BBC Radio 5 Live, as quoted by BBC Sport. “Brilliant finish, left foot volley into the top corner.
“However from an Everton point of view it is unthinkable. Dunk is left all on his own, absolutely terrible marking!”

Fortunate
The Everton defence were definitely let off the hook by VAR, with Toffees boss Sean Dyche also relieved. But the man in the dugout won’t have been happy with his defenders, particularly given how important that area is for Dyche.
His defence simply switched off, although perhaps they still weren’t expecting such a fine finish from Seagulls ace Dunk.
Clean sheets have been hard to come by for the Merseyside outfit in recent seasons, with shutouts undoubtedly needed if the club are to climb the Premier League table.
Marking really needs to be tighter to avoid such scenarios, with VAR this time working in favour of Dyche’s side, which hasn’t always been the case for them this season.
The boss previously worked wonders with his former club Burnley in the Premier League for quite some time, and plenty of their success was down to rock-solid defending, with a similar scenario now needed at Goodison Park.
In other Everton news, a BBC pundit was recently wowed by one Toffees “leader” who is “underrated” in the Premier League.
