Journalist: Chelsea transfer news as Everton star move mooted
Paul Brown has suggested Chelsea could make a move for Everton star Dominic Calvert-Lewin to solve their striker issue, comparing the Englishman to Didier Drogba.
The former Express journalist suggested that Calvert-Lewin could be the perfect fit for Chelsea if they want to sign a battering-ram-style forward in the mould of the Ivorian.
Brentford striker Ivan Toney was another forward suggested to solve their problems, although Brown admits a deal for either would depend on the type of forward Mauricio Pochettino wants to use.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT on 5 November, Brown shared: “It depends on what Pochettino wants from his striker, but I think Toney would be a really interesting signing for Chelsea. He is an established Premier League goalscorer, he’s very ambitious, and his movement is good.
“I think he’d be interesting for them. If Chelsea want a Drogba-style striker, the closest thing to a battering ram centre forward like that in the Premier League is Dominic Calvert-Lewin, in my opinion, but it depends on what Pochettino wants.
“I think Toney would be a better fit for them. There are other strikers out there, too. I doubt Watkins would leave Aston Villa, but he’s another one that I’m sure Chelsea would be interested in, should he ever become available.
“I think it’s clear that Chelsea needed a proven goalscorer, and that’s the kind of striker they should be targeting.”
An unlikely suggestion
Given Calvert-Lewin’s recent injury history, it seems unlikely he would be the man Chelsea choose to answer their issues up front, most of which have been caused by separate injury problems involving their current star forwards such as Christopher Nkunku.

For Everton, having their forward linked to huge moves like this one just shows that his performances at Goodison Park have warranted an interest, even if it is purely speculative, and therefore points towards good signs for his Everton future.
The Merseyside club have been crying out for a solid number nine to provide their much-needed source of goals, and Calvert-Lewin’s form so far this season has proved he can be the man to provide those if he remains fit.
Sean Dyche has managed the forward perfectly so far in terms of his recovery, and he will be looking to ensure he is available for as long as possible. Comparisons to Drogba may be a little far-fetched, but such high praise should be good news for the Toffees.
In other Everton news, one journalist has mooted an international call for one Toffees star.
