Everton Premier League relegation prediction shared amid 12-point deduction threat

Everton are “unlikely” to be relegated this season due to the teams below them in the table being so weak, according to The Telegraph’s Jason Burt.

The journalist shared the prediction amid the struggles of newly-promoted Sheffield United, Burnley and Luton Town, along with Bournemouth.

Everton currently sit 16th in the Premier League table, with Luton, Bournemouth, Burnley and Sheffield United in 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th respectively.

“Sheffield United, Burnley, Bournemouth and Luton are all so weak that even a 12-point deduction is unlikely to relegate Everton this season,” Burt wrote for The Telegraph (7 November).

The newly-promoted trio and the Cherries have picked up just four wins among themselves from their 44 matches so far.

The Premier League has, however, recommended that Everton face a 12-point deduction for breathing profit and sustainability rules, as per The Telegraph (25 October).

Safe?

The current predicament for Sean Dyche, his players and indeed Toffees supporters is a bittersweet one to say the least.

First and foremost, everyone connected to the Merseyside club will be delighted if Everton manage to stay in the top flight for another season.

The Toffees have been involved in a Premier League relegation battle for the past two seasons, staying up last time on the very final day of the campaign thanks to their 1-0 win at home to Bournemouth.

However, there is a negative aspect here that involves some embarrassment, with the club potentially only remaining in the division due to the massive struggles of those below them.

It won’t give Dyche and his squad much confidence if they are to remain a Premier League team only because recent Championship clubs and Bournemouth are worse off than them.

There is, however, a long way to go, meaning the Merseyside outfit have plenty of time to work things out and survive on their own, without relying on other clubs.

In other Everton news, a journalist has told an international manager to take a “good look” at the club’s “player of the season so far.”
