Alan Shearer wowed by ‘perfect’ Sean Dyche after Everton twist

Alan Shearer was full of praise for Sean Dyche and the job he has done at Everton after his side secured a 3-2 victory against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on 11 November.

Shearer claimed Dyche was the perfect man for the job at Goodison Park due to the stability and calming effect he brings despite the ongoing worrying situation in the background.

The former Newcastle striker was also appreciative of the football Dyche plays, claiming although it can be direct, they also play some good football as the boss knows how to make his teams effective.

Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast [13 November, 32:09], Shearer stated: “He’s been there before, nothing panics him. When it wasn’t going well he was still calm, he was telling everyone else to relax.

“Given the situation Everton Football Club are in at the moment, and have been for a while, he’s the perfect man to have in there.

“He just calms everything and he’s got them playing, they’re tough to beat, it might be direct but they’re also playing some decent football and it was a great result, another good result for them.”

Success earning recognition

Dyche’s turnaround in form at Everton has been a sight to behold. Many wrote them off at the start of the season, particularly after their struggles in front of goal and home defeats to Fulham and Wolves, but their recent run of positive results has changed the narrative.

Everton have already won more games on the road so far this season than they did in the entire last season, with the most recent victories against Crystal Palace and West Ham cementing their place as dangerous opposition to face.

No team will relish a game against Dyche’s side as things stand, with the return of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, the form of Abdoulaye Doucoure and every player in the squad stepping up their levels in a display of just how the boss is getting the best out of his players.

The form of Vitaliy Mykolenko has summed it up. At the start of the season, there were questions over his starting role in the side, but with back-to-back goals and impressive displays against Palace and Brighton, he, like Dyche, is changing the consensus.

In other Everton news, Garth Crooks has commented on a “lucky” call made against Crystal Palace.
