Everton boost as Amadou Onana injury update emerges while on duty with Belgium
Belgium boss Domenico Tedesco has confirmed he will not be “taking any risks” with Amadou Onana during the international break after the midfielder’s recent injury scares.
Onana missed Everton’s 1-1 draw with Brighton before coming off at half-time during the Toffee’s 3-2 win at Crystal Palace on Saturday 11 November with a hamstring issue.
Nonetheless, he has been included in Belgium’s squad for the ongoing international break, although Tedesco has confirmed they will manage the player’s fitness accordingly.

Tedesco was quoted by GVA (via Sport Witness, 14 November) as saying: “Onana? He only played one half with Everton.
“He could train but we are not taking any risks. We don’t have to. Maybe we will do with him as with Alexis [Saelemaekers] so that he will be there on Sunday.”
Positive
Club supporters often dread the international break. Not only do they have to go a weekend without watching their beloved side play, but they also must sit patiently in the hope that all of their key players return to the club fit and ready to go again.
That is why after Onana’s recent injury troubles, Everton supporters would have been as frustrated as they were surprised to see that he was still included in Belgium’s squad for the upcoming break.

Nonetheless, they will now be pleased to know that his international manager is taking the fitness of the player as seriously as Sean Dyche would like him to. It seems he will not be used unless absolutely necessary – which seems unlikely with Belgium playing Serbia and Azerbaijan – which will offer him some important rest.
The Toffees have turned a corner in recent weeks and are flying high, picking up valuable points to steer away from the drop zone, and fans will want every player available to help the push.
In other Everton news, injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar has suggested the club could be in line for a boost against Manchester United.
