Journalist details why 777 Partners man will be ‘glad’ after hearing what Everton chief Kevin Thelwell said
777 Partners’ Mladen Sormaz will be glad to hear what Everton chief Kevin Thelwell recently said about analytics at Goodison Park, according to Chris Beesley.
Writing on the Liverpool Echo website on Thursday (16 November), the journalist said the US investment firm’s director of football analytics uses detailed data measurement to compare similarities between leagues with factors such as tempo, physicality and difficulty.
He added that Sormaz is “preaching to the converted” with Thelwell when it comes to using his field to “eliminate risk” after the Toffees director of football revealed on the Training Ground Guru podcast on Friday (10 November) that he wants to discuss any performance problems with the insights team first rather than going on gut instinct to make “more informed decisions”.

Progressive
It is a progressive move for the Everton staff behind the scenes to be more methodical in the way they operate as analytics has become a much bigger part of the game.
Clubs are looking towards various new methods and advancements in technology to allow them to get the absolute most out of the resources – and personnel – they have at their disposal.
The game has come on an awful lot over the past few years and it simply isn’t enough anymore for a manager to be given full license to make decisions based purely on what they think is right.

It’s so far unknown whether or not 777 Partners will receive regulatory approval to complete its takeover of the Toffees, but from an analytics perspective, it could help take the club forward.
Sormaz appears to be extremely knowledgeable in that field and he could be another valuable addition to the work that’s already going on in the background to help improve performances on the pitch.
In other Everton news, a BBC pundit wanted one “sensational” Toffees man to join another Premier League club.
