Neville Southall issues Everton rallying cry after 10 point deduction
Neville Southall has issued a rallying cry to Everton fans after the club was docked 10 points for a breach of profit and sustainability rules.
The Toffees were hit with the heavy points penalty on Friday afternoon (17 November), sending them joint-bottom of the league despite an appeal already being in process.
And Blues legend Southall took to his personal Twitter account (18 November) to send a message to the Premier League that the punishment has united the club, and admitted he would “love to play for Everton now”.
“The Premier League, doing what nobody has managed in the last few years,” he wrote.
“Bringing the board and the fans together. Love to play for Everton now.
“The motivation of everyone is through the roof. Every point we get will be a shove it where the sun doesn’t shine to them.”
As usual, Big Nev has hit the nail on the head with this and every Toffees fan is on the same page as him.
Everton fans know the league haven’t given a fair punishment out and instead have tried to make an example of the club, knowing they have far bigger and high-profile cases coming against Manchester City and Chelsea.
But this club is now united. The fans and the board are on the same side for the first time in years, and we all know what the task at hand is.
Sean Dyche has got the team performing on the pitch and if we continue to put in performances of that standard then we will get out of this mess that is no fault of the players or the fans.
It’s a big ask because obviously, for now, we are ten points worse off, but every time we win and move closer to surviving rather than being relegated we will all be rubbing it in the face of the Premier League.
