We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Everton...

The medical staff at Everton is taking a methodical approach with Dele Alli as his return has been pushed back further, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert believes that the club will be more careful with the England international given his physical and mental health battles.

The 27-year-old faced a setback in his recovery and was earlier slated to return in October, but now a December return seems more likely.

Discussing his situation exclusively with Goodison News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:

His return date has now been pushed back even further and he’s likelier to return in December than November now.

It sounds like they’re being very methodical with him, physically and considering his mental health battles as well.

Alli endured a tough time out on loan at Besiktas last season when it seemed like a change of scene would do him good.

There was excitement in Turkey about his signing but he failed to live up to the billing there and they did not exercise the option to buy him.

This season, he is yet to make an appearance for Sean Dyche’s side and it remains to be seen what the future holds for him.

Given the club’s financial situation, a sale in January would make sense as it would free up funds on the payroll too.
