Everton to put foot down on Amadou Onana and Jarrad Branthwaite sales after points deduction

Everton feel they are in a strong position to hold on to key stars during the January transfer window after the points deduction, according to TEAMtalk.

The online news outlet (20 November) report that the Toffees will not accept cut-price offers for their star players like Amadou Onana or Jarrad Branthwaite this January as clubs monitor the club’s situation after they were docked 10 points for breaches of profit and sustainability rules.

The report adds that sources are adamant that Everton that no move will be sanctioned unless there is a big-money fee that represents the talent they have at their disposal.

There is also not expected to be any major activity from Everton during the window as there is confidence around the club in what they have in order to survive relegation.

Sale would be catastrophic

There is certainly grand interest in the likes of Branthwaite and Onana right now and interested parties will also be licking their lips at the recent development emerging at Goodison.

The reason Everton are in this mess in the first place is because of their financial issues and the constant mismanagement from those at the top and a points deduction followed by further sanctions could leave them in more peril.

That will certainly attract the elite clubs to their prized assets but it is vitally important Everton do not crack under the pressure to sell their key stars. Unless a big-money offer comes, the Blues should not entertain any talks or approaches.

Both Onana, Branthwaite and even Jordan Pickford are well worth around £60m-plus each and are incredibly important to the club’s ambitions of beating the drop again. Selling any one of them could be catastrophic to their chances

That could certainly change next summer but if Everton continue their giant strides under Dyche between now and then, a number of their key stars could be tempted to stay.
