Premier League chiefs hold talks over Everton 10-point deduction as Manchester City questions expected

Premier League chiefs discussed on Tuesday (21 November) the 10-point deduction handed to Everton, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper reported on its website on Tuesday that a number of topics were discussed at a meeting at a hotel in London.

The Toffees were handed the punishment on Friday (17 November), effective immediately, for breaching the Premier League’s financial rules.

Among the topics discussed was the sanction against the Merseyside club, the newspaper reported. And noting the current charge against Manchester City regarding 115 charges, the Daily Mail added: “Their case remains ongoing, but shareholders from rival clubs were expected to question today if progress was being made in coming to a decision on whether City are guilty of any wrongdoing and what the potential punishment could be.”

Awareness

Everyone connected with Everton will still be feeling extremely hard done by about the recent decision to dock the club 10 points.

They will be pointing to the similar issue at Manchester City, with fellow Premier League club Chelsea also drawing the ire of Toffees fans.

But this is a step in the right direction for Everton, with the topic at least being discussed by other Premier League clubs, a situation that can only help raise awareness about how the Toffees feel and what must be done if similar breaches are carried out.

Everton have announced they will appeal the decision, but for now Sean Dyche and his players must simply get on with things.

They will be feeling pretty low after dropping from 14th place to 19th place in the Premier League table, but must dust themselves off and go again at this key stage of the season, with Manchester United up next at Goodison Park.

In other Everton news, Neville Southall has shared one “good thing” about the club’s points deduction, with a Premier League relegation prediction made.
