Confirmed: Everton Women gem Emily Ramsey handed international call
Everton Women gem Emily Ramsey has been included in the England Under-23s squad for their upcoming internationals against France and Spain, confirmed by the Lionesses Twitter account.
Ramsey will be hoping to make her first appearance for England at this level, having previously represented her country at Under-17 and Under-19 level.
The 23-year-old has earned her international call, making two appearances for Brian Sorensen’s side in the WSL this season, despite her usual role deputising for first-choice keeper Courtney Brosnan.
Well-deserved recognition
It has been a disappointing season so far for Everton Women, who sit third from bottom of the WSL as things stand, picking up just five points from seven games, and are without a home win so far this season after a 2-2 draw with Bristol City last time out.
Ramsey, though, has recorded some impressive statistical performances in the small amount of game time which has been afforded to her and will be looking to push for a first-team spot amid the poor form of Brosnan.
The 23-year-old ranks in the top 5% for Post-Shot xG-GA – essentially a measure of how many goals she has conceded compared to what she would be expected to concede – as well as ranking in the top 8% when it comes to save percentage with an average of 76.8% per 90. [FBref]

With the latest international call likely to be yet another boost to her confidence, Ramsey will be looking to push on from her current position and prove that she can be relied upon as a regular at both club and international level.
In other Everton news, the 777 takeover could face issues as another 777-owned club may go bankrupt.
