Dominic Calvert-Lewin speaks out in reaction to Everton ten-point deduction

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has shared the unity amongst the players after they learned Everton would be given a ten-point deduction in the Premier League.

The striker revealed his belief that the players have not been phased by the blow to their season and are just looking at what they can affect rather than issues over which they have no control.

He also sent somewhat of an ominous warning to Manchester United, who Everton face at Goodison Park on Sunday 26 November, claiming the squad is looking forward to the game.

Sky Sports journalist Alan Myers shared the quotes via his Twitter account: “I think, given the circumstances, I’ve sensed a lot of unity and togetherness,” said Calvert-Lewin.

“We were off on the international break when the news broke, but coming back in this week, I don’t feel like it’s fazed us players.

“We know, as a group, we can’t affect that. All we can affect is what’s in front of us, and that’s the game on Sunday, so we’re looking forward to that.”

The players will step up

The view of Calvert-Lewin that the players will only focus on the things they can influence will be a strong one for Everton to take over the course of this season, and one Sean Dyche will surely be proud of.

If the players had been distracted and worried by the punishment they have received it would have been a bad sign for the rest of this season, and they cannot afford for their mentality to be knocked, because all the power rests with them to keep Everton up.

Everton

They will be buoyed by the fact that, despite facing a ten-point deduction, they are not rock bottom, and are just one win away from moving out of the relegation zone already if other results go their way in the next round of fixtures.

Fans will protest in the stadium and ensure the atmosphere is raucous for the Manchester United game, and these Everton players have already shown they can buy into that bouncing atmosphere, with that ‘us against them’ mentality resonating through the club.
