Everton ace Jack Harrison makes admission as he speaks out on Premier League punishment

Jack Harrison has followed Everton team-mate Dominic Calvert-Lewin in speaking out on last week’s Premier League points deduction verdict.

The Toffees head into Sunday’s (26 November) contest with Manchester United in the relegation zone after being docked 10 points.

Leeds United loanee Harrison is hopeful Everton can drag themselves clear of danger after offering an insight from inside the dressing room.

Speaking to BBC Sport [24 November], Harrison said: “Obviously we were taken a bit by surprise. I don’t think the club were expecting it and that’s why they’re going through the appeal.

“But I think I’m probably more surprised by the reaction of the players. Everyone is in such a good place mentally.

“It’s generating this feeling of, even though we’ve had 10 points deducted, you can throw that at us and we’ll come back twice as hard and do everything we can to come back stronger.

“It’s up to us now as players, fans and a club to come together and help drive that willingness and mentality to compete every week and get those points back.”

Positive mindset

Now that club football is set to resume following the two-week international break, we will start to hear from more and more Everton players.

The message will be the same from all of them, no doubt, in that they are more fired up than ever to collect points and move clear from danger.

These comments from Harrison are certainly a positive, though, as it shows that those inside the dressing room are as annoyed as the fans.

They feel wronged and will do all that they possibly can to wipe out the 10-point deficit as quickly as possible.

Everton

Sunday’s (26 November) showdown with Manchester United was always going to be a spectacle, but even more so now.

It presents the first opportunity for the fans, players and everyone associated with the club to come together as one.

There would be no better way to send out a loud and clear message than combining the various protests with a statement victory.

For that to happen, supporters need to make themselves heard, and the players need to simply do what they have been doing in recent weeks. Bring it on!

In other Everton news, a journalist has suggested the Toffees may have been saved by an off-the-pitch development.
