Sky Sports reporter shares Dominic Calvert-Lewin admission live on air
Vinny O’Connor has shared an admission made by Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin ahead of this weekend’s Premier League clash with Manchester United.
Calvert-Lewin told the club’s official website on Thursday [23 November] that he is fully anticipating a “more electric” atmosphere than usual at Goodison Park on Sunday [26 November].
O’Connor relayed that message outside Finch Farm live on Sky Sports News on Friday [24 November, 11:06], with Calvert-Lewin the first Everton player to publicly comment on last week’s points deduction.

“I’ve played in a lot of games against United at Goodison, and the atmosphere is always incredible,” Calvert-Lewin said.
“I expect the weekend to be no different – if not, more electric. I’m sure the fans will be ready. Us as players, we’ll prepare the same as normal and make sure we’re ready to put in a performance and collect the three points.”
O’Connor added: “Everton know as a group they cannot effect anything other than what is in front of them, and that is Sunday’s game.
“Everton have faced adversity already this season, having taken just one point from the first five games. Since then, they have won four of their subsequent seven Premier League games, taking 13 points from the 21 on offer.
“So it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that Everton can pull themselves out of the relegation zone at the first time of asking this weekend.”
Full confidence
Everton’s players have remained quiet on the whole over the past week, no doubt under orders from the club.
Calvert-Lewin did not really give much away when speaking to the club’s website in the week, but Sean Dyche will likely be pushed into giving his opinion a little more when he speaks to the press later on Friday (24 November).

Even without saying anything, you know for a fact that those inside the dressing room are just as annoyed as supporters that all the recent hard work has effectively been undone.
From looking up the table towards the top half, to now simply being focused on getting out of the relegation zone, a lot has changed since Everton last kicked a ball.
Every supporter has full confidence that the Toffees can claw themselves clear of the dropzone, perhaps as early as this weekend, having put together a very good run of form over the past six weeks.
Ultimately, the best message that anyone inside the club can send out right now is getting their head down and helping to put more and more points on the board.
