Fabrizio Romano shares Andre Onana fitness update ahead of Everton vs Manchester United

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is in contention to start against Everton this weekend after recovering from a groin injury, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Onana, who has started all 12 of United’s Premier League games this term, was considered a doubt after sustaining the issue while away on international duty with Cameroon.

The 27-year-old was substituted off in his side’s 3-0 win over Mauritius last Friday (17 November) and missed the 1-1 draw with Libya on Tuesday (21 November).

Opponents Man United have had a number of injury issues to contend with over the past fortnight, but it is looking as though five of their injury doubts will return at Goodison Park.

The return of Onana is a particular boost for the Red Devils, as back-up Altay Bayindir has yet to make his debut, but the Cameroonian is hardly the most stable of keepers.

Regardless of the side United field, Everton’s players will be right up for this showdown at Goodison Park given the events off the field over the past week or so.

Andre’s namesake Amadou is the only Sean Dyche regular who is expected to miss the game, but the Toffees have a strong enough squad to pick up a result against United.

In other Everton news, a former Toffees player has made a “worst thing” claim about the points deduction decision.
