Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola shares honest reaction to Everton points deduction as ‘not the same’ claim made
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has reacted to the 10-point deduction handed to Everton for financial breaches.
The Toffees were hit with the sanction immediately for breaching Premier League profit and sustainability rules, with Sheffield United manager Paul Heckingbottom sharing his thoughts on Wednesday (22 November).
Manchester City were charged by the Premier League for financial breaches back in February, with their case ongoing [BBC Sport, 24 November].

“It’s two different cases,” said Guardiola, as quoted by BBC Sport. “It’s not the same – honestly. I spoke with my people – [they] said it is completely different.
“Ok – [our] one is longer because it is more complicated because it’s 115 breaches. So wait. Then the lawyers from both sides present their cases in front of the judge and the verdict.”

Tough times
The punishment handed to Everton means the Merseyside club have dropped from 14th place to 19th place in the league table.
It is a real shame for manager Sean Dyche and all of his players given how hard they have been working both on and off the pitch recently.
After a miserable start to the new Premier League campaign, where they faced loss after loss, the Toffees began to pick up plenty of impressive results.
That includes recent victories on the road to the likes of West Ham and Crystal Palace, as well as a hard-fought draw at home to Brighton.
It remains to be seen what will happen with Manchester City, but for now all Dyche can do is rally his players to continue their good form.
They have the perfect opportunity to show exactly what they are made of when Manchester United travel to Goodison Park on Sunday (26 November).
