Roy Keane, Ian Wright, Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher predict result of Everton v Manchester United
Roy Keane, Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher and Ian Wright have been arguing about their predictions ahead of Everton hosting Manchester United.
The Toffees host the Reds at Goodison Park in the first Premier League clash since being docked ten points, with a win potentially lifting them back out of the relegation zone if other results go their way too.
But while making their picks on The Overlap (23 November), the four pundits clashed with the Man United legends adamant they wouldn’t lose while Wright and Carragher expected a home win.
“Everton. I’m going to go Everton,” Wright said. Honestly, you can’t not have Everton. This Everton side, with how they’re going to feel against this United, I fancy them. I’d go 3-0 Everton.”
“What are you on?” Keane immediately bit back.
“Against this United side, if they can keep that pressure on I think they beat them,” Wright continued. “2-1 Everton. 3-1. It’s going to be 3-2 Everton, I guarantee it. I bet you.
“Don’t fall into that,” Keane responded.
“Because of the atmosphere? It won’t turn Everton into Barcelona. It will still be the same players. If United score the first goal they’ll be booing them.
“Because they’ve had bad news everyone thinks Everton will turn up and be like Barcelona. They’re not bad. Away from home, at home they’re still a bit dodgy. 2-2.”
Meanwhile Carragher and Neville were more on the same page although there was a bit of disagreement.
“I think Everton will win,” Carragher said. “The atmosphere and everything. But it’s Man United. I don’t think Man United will win that.”
“Everton v Man United, this is a tough one,” Neville said. “I ain’t got a clue.
“After the first 20 minutes it’s a game of football isn’t it. The banners will get heavy after 15 minutes. The worst I’ll go for is a draw. We’ll go 1-1.”

While there is some truth to what Roy Keane says about the fact the bad news of a points deduction won’t see us turn into Barcelona on the pitch, he is underestimating the crowd at Goodison Park.
There is a reason the crowd is often referred to as the 12th man and that’s because the way they get behind the team and push them to reach an extra level is unmatched across the league.
Manchester United have obviously got more individual quality on the pitch but they’re hardly one of the strongest teams around right now and our strengths go right up against their weaknesses.
Goodison Park under the lights, with a fierce crowd who feel hard done by and a team in need of a win is a perfect recipe for Everton to get back on the winning trail.
We’re in good form with six wins in our last nine in all competitions, and this is the perfect game to continue that run in these circumstances.
