Everton safe from relegation under Sean Dyche as leading Sky Sports statistic emerges amid 10-point deduction

Everton were involved in relegation battles in the past two Premier League campaigns, and they may find themselves in another one this time around.

It comes after the Toffees were handed a 10-point deduction for breaching the competition’s profit and sustainability rules.

The punishment has taken place with immediate effect, resulting in the Merseyside club dropping from 14th place to 19th place in the table.

But while the news came as a massive blow to Sean Dyche, his players, the fans and indeed everyone associated with the Toffees, now is certainly not the time to be fearful.

Everton were going strongly before the decision went their way, with the Goodison Park club currently on a three-match unbeaten run, with two wins and a draw to their name.

Dyche’s side also have a much better goal difference than the teams around them in the table, with the newly relegated Luton Town, Sheffield United and Burnley really struggling.

And if that didn’t provide Everton supporters with enough confidence that they will beat the drop this season, the latest possession statistic from Sky Sports should.

Everton

As per Sky Sports (24 November), the Toffees have lost possession in their own third less often than any other club. Their figure of 34% is ahead of the likes of high-flying Arsenal (40%) and Manchester City (45%), with Sky Sports noting that when Everton “do have the ball, they play in the right areas.”

Dyche has clearly been working on this area on the training ground, and his players have been responding. If they can keep outshining the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City in this area, the Toffees will undoubtedly be safe from the dreaded drop this season.

In other Everton news, Kaveh Solhekol has made a Toffees Premier League relegation prediction on Sky Sports following their 10-point deduction.
