Ex-Everton Scout: January transfers to be blocked at Goodison Park as newspaper headlines predicted

Goodison News is delighted to welcome aboard our brilliant new columnist Bryan King, the former goalkeeper who spent over eight years as a scout at Everton and 28 years in total in first-team scouting roles. Bryan also spent six years on Tottenham’s recruitment team and 11 years scouting at Aston Villa across two different spells…

Bryan King is confident Sean Dyche can keep his Everton squad together through the January transfer window and ultimately avoid relegation from the Premier League.

The Toffees were hit with a 10-point deduction last week and after Saturday’s action, the Merseysiders are five points away from safety with a game in hand on the other teams in the bottom four with them.

They’ll play Manchester United at Goodison Park on Sunday (26 November) with mass protests against the Premier League and their ruling planned by fans.

Former Everton scout King doubts his old club will be willing to sell anybody in January and will tell them that if they want out, they’ll have to wait until the summer because they won’t be able to bring anyone in.

“I think this is a great platform for the squad,” King told Goodison News.

It’s a ‘save Everton’ campaign, isn’t it? You can see it in the press now, ‘they had have the chance to leave the club in January but they stuck with Everton through thick and thin and got their reward, they’ve saved the club, what great club men they are’.

I can’t see anybody leaving and, of course, who can they bring in? They’re restricted so they need to stick with what they’ve got and with what they’ve got now, they’ve got a good chance of staying up.

But you can’t have players turning up now saying, ‘I want to leave’. If they want to leave they’ll look at it at the end of the season and if they go down, they’ve got to sell because Everton can’t be paying the wages they’re paying in the Championship.

I’m pretty sure that Everton can survive it. They’re only a couple of wins away from coming out of the bottom three and that’s a fortunate thing. There’s not that big a gap and I’m glad Everton won some games prior to the points deduction because I think then, they would have been in trouble.”

In other Everton news, Gary Lineker has also lashed out at Farhad Moshiri, who could be set to sell up to 777 Partners soon.
