Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham breaks silence on behind-the-scenes Everton fiasco

Andy Burnham has broken the silence on Sky Sports’ decision to not air the interview regarding the points deduction suffered by Everton.

The Manchester Mayor gave an interview where he asked the Premier League to make a u-turn on the decision to dock the Toffees points.

Given his comments, the broadcasters decided to pull the interview and not let it get to the air.

Burnham took to Twitter to write, “Something strange is definitely going on behind-the-scenes with the Everton story. Others have been in touch to say interviews they’ve given were not broadcast. PL had to correct a misleading response to my letter given to journalists on Sunday pm.”

Ridiculous

Everton fans have every right to be furious with the handling of Burnham’s interview by Sky Sports as it adds to a growing sense of frustration and perceived injustice surrounding the club.

The decision not to broadcast the mayor’s interview, in which he called for the Premier League to drop the 10-point penalty, raises questions about media impartiality and transparency.

The absence of coverage on critical issues facing the club, such as the points deduction and fan protests, fuels a perception among supporters that their concerns are being sidelined or deliberately ignored.

The plane incident, where a banner criticised the Premier League as corrupt, was also not shown, further deepening the frustration among Everton fans who feel their voice is being suppressed. T

The reminders to Sky reporters about “editorial responsibilities” and the non-broadcasting of certain interviews contribute to the sense that there may be external pressures influencing media coverage.

The Goodison Park faithful, already angered by the points deduction, are justified in feeling that their concerns and protests are not receiving fair and open coverage, intensifying their frustration and disillusionment with the current situation.
