Everton and Tottenham could be given hope in pursuit of Southampton goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu – Carlton Palmer
Everton could be given renewed hope of signing long-term target Gavin Bazunu if Southampton do not get promoted, according to Carlton Palmer.
The Toffees were first linked with the 21-year-old goalkeeper in May 2022 [The Times] when he was still on Manchester City’s books.
Bazunu has been a regular for Southampton over the past two seasons, and Palmer does not believe he will leave St Mary’s before the summer.

“Southampton will not be unduly concerned about the interest that is around him,” Palmer told Football League World [28 November].
“They won’t be worried about losing his services.
“It is unlikely Spurs and Everton will part with the kind of money Southampton would be looking for, for the goalkeeper to sit on their bench.
“Should Southampton not get promoted at the end of the season, this situation could be revisited.”
Long-term planning
Bazunu will still have three years to run on his contract come the end of the season, so Southampton are under no pressure to sell.
When you consider they paid £12million to sign him from Manchester City a year-and-a-half ago, they will want to make a profit on that.
Everton already have one of the finest goalkeepers in the Premier League, of course, in England international Jordan Pickford.

However, Pickford is regularly linked with a move away from Goodison Park, and it therefore makes sense to plan for the future.
Bazunu will not want to sit on the bench, but it could be that the Toffees snap him up and send him out on loan for a year or two.
For that to happen, Southampton will have to miss out on a return to the Premier League.
If the Saints do fall short, then it makes sense for Everton to reach an agreement over a player they quite clearly like the look of.
In other Everton news, a journalist claims Farhad Moshiri will be pleased by a recent development at Goodison Park.
