Amadou Onana ruled out of Everton clash v Nottingham Forest, Beto to return – Sean Dyche
Everton will be without Amadou Onana once again for their Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest this weekend, Sean Dyche has confirmed.
The Belgian midfielder picked up a calf problem before the international break and hasn’t played since, and this game will come too soon for him.
Dele Alli and Andre Gomes are also still unavailable for the clash at the City Ground, but Beto should be fine after missing the defeat to Manchester United while Dominic Calvert-Lewin trained alone as the club manage his work load.
“Amadou is unlikely [to play on Saturday], Beto is likely and trained today,” he said.
“Dom, we’re just being careful with. We’ll make a decision on him over the next couple of days.”
Blow
The absence of Onana has been clear to see in recent games, and the defeat to Man United was a clear sign of that.
The Belgian midfielder has such fantastic physical attributes that suit the way Sean Dyche likes to play, but he’s also very technically gifted and has the energy to allow him to be a real box-to-box asset for the team.
Dele and Gomes are more long-term injuries and while they’re recovering well, this is too soon but nobody was expecting them back any time soon anyway.

Having Beto available is definitely a positive too as he brings something different to the squad, and if there are any doubts over the fitness of Dominic Calvert-Lewin then he shouldn’t be risked.
Youssef Chermiti is one for the future and having him lead the line would be a disadvantage for sure, but hopefully Calvert-Lewin will be okay to start and fire us to a much-needed three points.
