Everton duo Idrissa Gueye and Arnaut Danjuma working towards coaching badges

Everton duo Idrissa Gueye and Arnaut Danjuma have begun working towards new coaching qualifications with support from the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA).

The pair are working towards their UEFA B Licenses, looking at practical and theoretical elements of the game including on-field practices and off-field workshops.

They have been lent the support of the PFA in their journey towards earning their coaching badges and setting up a possible future remaining in the game after they retire.

The PFA shared the news via their official Twitter account on 29 November as they wrote: “The PFA will support Idrissa Gueye and Arnaut Danjuma throughout the coming months as they start their coaching journey.

“The UEFA B Licence looks at practical and theory elements of the game, including different types of on-field practices and a variety of off-field workshops.”

Setting themselves up for the future

It is always good to see footballers helping to secure their own futures after they retire. Whether that’s becoming coaches as has been seen more and more lately, or jobs outside of the training pitch like punditry, it is important players have that guidance.

They have notoriously short playing careers that can lead to a difficult situation when those careers finish, with the PFA providing its help and guidance to its members off the field in a positive move for the players as people.

Everton

From an Everton point of view, the players having a greater tactical understanding as a result of the course could be a boost to their understanding of what Sean Dyche wants them to do in an Everton shirt and the reasons behind what he asks of them.

That growth in their knowledge of being a coach could provide the boss with an easier job and a more understanding group of players who can provide their own ideas and insight to his plans – as he has previously claimed Seamus Coleman has provided during his injury absence.
