Richard Keys rages over ‘laughable’ Man City agreement after what happened to Everton
Richard Keys can’t believe his eyes after reports that Manchester City agreed a trial date with the Premier League for their FFP breaches after Everton were docked 10 points.
The Daily Mail reported (30 November) that the treble winners have agreed a trial date with the Premier League for Autumn 2024, with a decision likely to be made before the end of the 2024/25 season.
But Keys, writing on his personal Twitter account (1 December) was furious at the report and declared it “laughable” after the recent situation that involved the Toffees being hit with a points penalty.
“It’s good of City and their lawyers to ‘agree’ to a trial date eh?” he wrote.
“Have they also agreed the punishment? In what other world would this happen?
“And on the same day that Everton are warned there might be further points losses to come this season. ‘Agree’ a trial date? It’s laughable.”
Ridiculous
In case you weren’t entirely sure that Everton have been harshly treated and that the Premier League favour the big teams, then all the evidence you need is here.
We were slapped with a 10 point deduction for a breach of profit and sustainability rules based on a single charge, the biggest punishment ever handed out in Premier League history.

Man City on the other hand have 115 charges, and while the cases are very different, the fact they’ve been able to push this back for years and now seemingly get to pick their own dates for hearings says it all. The Premier League are terrified of them.
We’ve been made an example of and we’ll likely get stuck with the consequences because they won’t admit it, and once again the big boys get away with it. Absolutely pathetic.
Keys is spot on, and more public figures need to come out in defence of Everton and against the Premier League if we ever want to see any positive changes made.
