Sean Dyche provides Calvert-Lewin and Onana injury news after Everton win v Nottingham Forest
Sean Dyche has revealed Dominic Calvert-Lewin was touch-and-go to play in the win for Everton against Nottingham Forest but should be fit later in the week, while Amadou Onana is less likely to make a quick comeback.
Both players were absent from the Premier League victory at the City Ground, with Calvert-Lewin’s injury history part of the reason Dyche decided not to risk him despite the enormity of the game.
Onana, on the other hand, is reportedly making good progress towards recovery, but Dyche suggested he may not be quite ready to feature against Newcastle on 7 December.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo [3 December], Dyche revealed: “Dom was touch and go, it is a tight one with him because of his past. I think as long as he has come through this weekend he has got a good chance for later in the week.
“Amadou maybe not, we will have to see how his week progresses but he is certainly making good progress.”
Fingers crossed for Calvert-Lewin
Beto did his job against Forest and played a part in earning an important 1-0 win for Everton in their bid to escape the relegation zone, but there is an apparent drop in quality between Calvert-Lewin and the summer transfer arrival.
The Portuguese completed just six passes in his 82 minutes on the pitch, and missed the target with all three of his shots, while also recording a 0% dribble success rate. [Sofascore]
Getting Calvert-Lewin back fit for the clash with Newcastle at Goodison Park will be a huge boost to their chances of taking something from the game, with the Englishman’s goalscoring form giving Dyche the ability to have confidence in his attacking moves.

Calvert-Lewin’s return will be on the mind of many Everton fans who are hopeful he does not suffer another injury setback after his struggles in recent years, but Dyche’s comments suggest this time there is no serious issue and the club have managed his fitness brilliantly.
