Chris Sutton made to rethink Everton v Newcastle United prediction with Anthony Gordon forecast
Chris Sutton has predicted Everton will taste defeat to Newcastle United in midweek due to the involvement of Anthony Gordon.
The Toffees welcome Newcastle to Goodison Park on Thursday [7 December] looking to build on their weekend victory at Nottingham Forest.
Gordon is set to return to the blue half of Merseyside for the second time since joining Newcastle in a £45million deal in January.

Predicting a 2-1 away win, Sutton told BBC Sport [4 December]: “This should be a really good game between two teams who will throw everything at it.
“Everton’s home form is not great, but they have total belief in their approach under Sean Dyche and they play like they share the same cause.
“But Newcastle’s unity is also great to see – they are all in with Eddie Howe and fully invested in his playing style as well.
“I was tempted to go for a draw but with former Everton winger Anthony Gordon going back to Goodison Park, I have a sneaky feeling he might make the difference.”
Massive match
A player returning to haunt their former club is something we have seen countless times down the years – it is just simply one of those things.
Gordon was only a late substitute when Newcastle won 4-1 on their most recent visit to Goodison in April, but he is a regular starter now.

The 22-year-old scored the winner against Manchester United at the weekend and has nine goal involvements in 13 league games this term.
Regardless of whether he is a former player or not, that type of return means there is always a chance he could be the difference-maker.
Sean Dyche will no doubt have a plan to counteract the visitors’ threat, and their large number of injuries means Everton have a good chance.
The Toffees’ home form may not have been great this season, but the fans will be fully behind them for what is another massive contest.
In other Everton news, a Sky Sports pundit was amazed by something he saw after the Toffees’ win at Nottingham Forest.
