Sean Dyche ‘confident’ of Dominic Calvert-Lewin return ahead of Everton v Newcastle

Sean Dyche is confident Dominic Calvert-Lewin can return from injury and get back into the Everton side to face Newcastle at Goodison Park, according to Ben Dinnery.

The injury expert shared that Dyche believes his striker can return to the side on 7 December as long as he can come through the week’s training.

Calvert-Lewin was missing from Everton’s victory away at Nottingham Forest after picking up a knock, and the club will be careful with his return given his recent injury history.

The injury expert took to Twitter [5 December] to provide the update, writing: “Dyche is confident Calvert-Lewin will be available, as long as he can come through training.”

A big boost to their hopes

Facing a Newcastle side who have been on a flying run of form of late will prove a daunting prospect to Dyche and his side, but if Calvert-Lewin makes his return to the starting XI, it will improve their chances of getting a result significantly.

The Englishman is the second-highest scorer in the Everton squad this season, with his three goals falling just behind Abdoulaye Doucoure who has four, in a side that has struggled for a consistent source of goals so far this season.

Behind Clavert-Lewin, left-back Vitaliy Mykolenko is the Toffees’ third top scorer with two goals, and a number of other players have chipped in with just one. The fact that the left-back is the third-highest scorer in the squad speaks volumes about how the season has gone so far.

Everton

However, with the return of Calvert-Lewin to the side, Everton will be that bit more threatening and will hope that he can cause some issues for a Newcastle defence that has just kept a clean sheet against Manchester United.
