Finance Expert shares what Premier League have said about Everton appeal already

We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Everton

Dan Plumley has shared that the Premier League has insisted that the appeal lodged by Everton will be done and sorted before the end of this season.

A hearing is set for the New Year after the Toffees officially lodged their appeal to the 10-point deduction on Friday 1 December after breaching the profit and sustainability regulations.

The finance expert admitted that Everton will be pushing for a reduction on that deduction, something which will need to be sorted before the business end of the season.

“I think that’s all we know and we can go off at the minute,” he exclusively told Goodison News.

“It will be heard in the New Year, and the Premier League have already said that any appeal will be done and sorted before the end of the season.

You don’t want, for all parties concerned, that dragging too far towards the end of the season, because the likelihood of what’s going to happen if we roll that through, we know that they will be pushing for a reduced points deduction first and foremost, and any reduced points deduction is going to have a massive impact on the table and relegation shake-up.

For all parties concerned, you would want that sorted out way before the end of the season, we don’t know when that will fall, but if it’s going to be heard in January sometime, you would be hoping for a resolution as quickly as possible after that, so it’s way before you’re getting into the business end of the season.”
