Jordan Pickford ‘dragged away’ with 3-0 Everton win over Newcastle ‘kicking off’ at final whistle – BBC journalist
Jordan Pickford had be “dragged away” at full-time of the 3-0 Everton win over Newcastle with the situation “kicking off”, according to Shamoon Hafez.
The BBC Sport journalist reported via Twitter from Goodison (7 December) as players from both sides squared up following the final whistle of a massive Toffees result.
Late goals from Dwight McNeil, Abdoulaye Doucouré and Beto delivered the goals, before the emotion all came out in the stands and on the pitch after 10 minutes of added time was up.
Pickford was in the middle of the pushing and shoving as Bruno Guimaraes and Fabian Schar confronted him, with Joelinton also furious for the Magpies amid a pulsating atmosphere in front of the Evertonians.
Hafez wrote: “Kicking off at full-time, Pickford having to be dragged away by team-mates. Handbags.”

In many ways Everton produced a similar performance to the one they put in during the last game at Goodison, but this time they got their rewards.
The 3-0 defeat to Manchester United was deceptive when the Toffees had been good on an emotional night but failed to take their chances while the visitors did.
However, after the key 1-0 victory at the weekend against Nottingham Forest, the return to Merseyside felt like the occasion the players and the fans had wanted in response to the 10-point deduction.

Pickford himself played on through an injury which looked like it might see him substituted in the second half, so it is no surprise he was worked up against a side whose fans tend to target him as a former Sunderland man.
The 29-year-old infuriates opponents like few others and clearly the visitors were again angry with how he finished the game.
McNeil was again the player to break the deadlock, as with at the City Ground, and the floodgates finally opened in front of goal after another wasteful first half.
Kieran Trippier’s two errors led to McNeil’s and Doucouré’s goals, while Beto added a crucial third from a personal perspective as his first in the Premier League.
Everton now have six of those 10 points back, but would be above Chelsea in the top half without it, although if they keep performing like this they will surely soon be climbing back towards that area of the table once more.
In other Everton news, an Amazon Prime pundit was stunned by one “brilliant” Toffees ace in the big win.
