Everton: Journalist blasts ‘disgusting’ Newcastle fans after Jordan Pickford incident
The incident involving Jordan Pickford at the end of the Everton game against Newcastle United was “absolutely ridiculous”, according to Matt Jones.
The Liverpool Echo journalist tweeted on Thursday (7 December) that the Magpies fans can’t be singing “disgusting songs” about the England international and then have a “collective hissy fit” when he “gives a bit back”.
The 29-year-old keeper celebrated in front of the away supporters after one of the Toffees goals in the 3-0 victory before some of the Tyneside club’s players took offence to his actions at the final whistle and a scuffle took place on the pitch at Goodison Park.

Works both ways
It’s nothing new for Newcastle fans to abuse Pickford and sing songs about the Sunderland-born keeper due to the rivalry between the two clubs.
In some ways, the Everton stopper actually feeds off that kind of environment as he’s the type of person who relishes a challenge and likes to get involved with the supporters.
But if he is going to stand there and take it all game, then he is fully entitled to give a bit back when his team secure a victory against them.

The Englishman will have been delighted with how his side played as they scored three late goals to earn another valuable three points.
Sean Dyche will now be looking for the Blues to keep pushing forward as there is certainly momentum building at Goodison Park at the moment.
In other Everton news, Paul Merson has made a brand new Toffees prediction.
